Shadow Work Blues

Shadow Work Blues

I’M SO SICK OF SHADOW WORK!!!!! It’ll have you like 😩😭😠😒😡😃🫣😢😭🤬 all in a 2 hour period.

YES, shadow work is annoyingly necessary. The only way to reach a new level of maturity both naturally and spiritually, you have to face EVERYTHING head on. You must experience periods where you will need to practice the art of shadow boxing yourself, every layer of you. Meaning, by the time that you finish, you would have acknowledged every aspect of who you are as well as what makes you who you are whether positive or negative. Shadow work causes all of your doubts, fears, set backs, bad habits, your ego, temper tantrums, demons to completely AIR OUT YOUR CLOSET. Clean your slate, your temple on all levels during this process because it definitely can be an interesting experience.

For some, it is very over zealous so you must pace yourself. Looking within and knowing your own boundaries and newly creating them as you heal helps tremendously. If you find yourself too overwhelmed, try spiritually cleansing with prayer, fasting, crystals, smoke, and baths just to name a few. Shadow work literally dumps out everything that you have shoved down that has caused you pain, shame, and/or discomfort in any way since the first day that you knew that you could push the mess of your feelings and emotions down. Keep in mind that it reveals to you all of the gunk and darkness, or lower thinking, and vibrations that lurk within. Such as your bad habits, the younger versions of you who weren’t allowed to speak their mind, painful memories and traumas, or things that trigger you. It causes you to no longer suppress those feelings and emotions within your body or spirit for any longer. The involuntarily reflection of those habits, memories, and triggers makes it vital for you to take the time and journal however you feel comfortable.

Take note of your responses to everything as you grow and heal. As well as your response to them. Lastly shadow work causes you to fully put down the weight and baggage of all of those things that cannot be changed; whether it be childhood trauma, broken relationships, grudges, lack of forgiveness towards others or yourself, mistakes you’ve made, and anything else that has been tucked away in the dark, "swept under the rug", and out of sight. The mess of it all has to come all the way out in order for you to propel forward. Everything that you face and overcome through shadow work are your stepping stones for the deepest healing that you have ever experienced, as well as the advancement of your spiritual growth. Throughout your days be sure to meditate in ways that resonate with you and always reflect as far and as deep as the pain goes.

Sometimes, its necessary to actually add mirror work in conjunction with your shadow work. If you stare deep enough into your soul through your eyes in the mirror, you will be reminded of exactly who is staring back at you immensely. You may find yourself tearing up, laughing, or plain out ugly crying because something in your eyes triggered you. The practice has the ability to take you all the way back as far as the absolute youngest version of you that remembers significant emotional experiences whether positive or negative.

Here's my go to exercise to relax my nervous system anywhere.

1. Sit quietly in a comfortable, up right position on seated the floor or a chair, or standing if you prefer; making sure that your spine and back are straight.

2.  Take three, slow, deep breaths. Inhale for 3 seconds and hold for 7 seconds. Exhale for 3 seconds. Repeat 2 more times or as many as you need.

3. Roll your neck in a circle very slowly to the right for 30 seconds, then to the left for 30 seconds.

4. Roll your shoulders forward, very slowly for 30 seconds, then backwards for 30 seconds.

5. Lastly, repeat step 2 as many times as you need.

Give it a try, share with me hot it goes for you.
